Should i take my anti-depressants????>.i'm so afraid they will change me?!

Question: They will change you, but only slightly and you might not even be able to tell the difference.
When you take the medication what it does is it puts your rational self in the driver's seat, not your emotional self. You will still be in touch with your emotions but you'll be in charge of them, not ruled by them. You'll be able to feel your emotions and then decide how you want to experience them, and you'll be able to decide if you want to let go of them too.

Remember that the medications have side effects. Wellbutrin has fewer side effects and may help you lose weight while others might help you gain weight. But all meds take about two or three weeks for the body to get used to them and so you'll feel weird side effects for a little while, but then you'll start to feel normal again. You've got to keep taking them like your doc says because if you stop taking them you could have bad reactions if you don't come off them correctly.
Don't pay attention to the horror stories. Your doctor prescribed them to you for a reason and needs to know that you're taking them as prescribed. If you don't follow his instructions he won't take you seriously.

Please talk to your psychiatrist about these concerns.
Best wishes...

i (used to) take them everyday like the doctor told me. they do kinda change you in a way, but fo rthe better. they make you less, how do i say it, irritable. not so many mood swings, not as easily to take offense to something. they really are worth it, but you have to give it a couple of weeks. if youdo not like them, then you can ween yourself off of them.

yes it will not change you for the bad but for the good it will help you i know how you feel my mom had to make and i mean make me take my anti-depressants but in the long run it help yoou out a lot =)

I was on anti depressents before and all my friends told me that they were screwing me up. So when I got off them my head felt like it was huge and I was really sick! So I guess my friends were right they did screw me up and I'll never be the same girl I was before... scarred 4 life

I was at one time taking anti-depressant which was such a big help during the time I needed them... now a few years later I'm fine without them just cause you start taking them doesn't mean it's for life.......yes it may change you but it bring the confusion in to a nice understanding of whats going on around you in a peaceful light.
