Ovulating and an IUD??!
Question: I feel so dumb..this seems like a question I should know already. I have had an IUD since Oct 06. Do women still ovulate even though they have an IUD in place?? I know the chances of getting pregnant are slim with it in place but I was just curious. I haven't had a period in almost a year so I wouldn't even know when I was ovulating.

Yes, you will still ovulate every month. And the egg can still be fertilized, but the IUD prevents implantation by creating a "hostile environment" in the uterus. So even though you're ovulating every month and it's still possible for fertilization to occur, your chances of actually being pregnant are EXTREMELY slim.
yes you still ovulate but it prevents fertilization and implantation.
I have the Mirena IUD I have had it for over a year. I know I don't ovulate anymore because my ovulation is painful and I have felt it since getting the IUD.
