On the pill and longterm antibiotics...?!

Question: Im on the combined pill, and im also taking antibiotics which i could be on for up to 2 years. Ive been asking doctors what the effect of them is on the pill, but they have all said different things...one said it constantly makes the pill less effective, and other 4-6 weeks.
does anyone know?

Asking a pharmacist may be better than asking a doctor. Pharmacists often know more about actual medications than a doctor.

To be on the safe side, you might want to consider another form of birth control for the next couple of years. Maybe an IUD or condoms would work for you.

antibiotics makes the birth control useless! be careful!

You will need to use another form of birth control because the antibiotics will render the pill unreliable. Two years seems an awful long time to be on antibiotics though.

the pill is less effective when taking anti biotics. Be Careful!

yeah The pill is less effective with an antibiotic! I learned that the hard way! Ive been on loestrin 24 for over a year and I was placed on an antibiotic called citpro for a urinary tract Infection and me and my BF had sex while on the antibiotic and poof now I might possibly be 3 or 4 weeks preggy! I am going to the drs. in 2 weeks for a full blood test! Just please use another form of birth control whether its a condom or what but the pull out method does not work!!!!!
