Do girls need a smear test?!

Question: I'm 20 years old and have only had one long term boyfriend. We have been together for 3 years and I lost my virginity to him. He is the only person I have ever "been" with. He regularly gets check ups and always comes back clean. He hasnt had much sexual partners before me, and he doesn't have any std's or anything now or never has. I have been sexually active with him for about 3 years now. But I heard that all girls should get a smear test every 2 years once they become sexually active. The thought of getting one of those freaks me out and makes me feel uncomfortable. If my boyfriend is clean, and we always use protection, should I be ok to not get a smear test? Are there women that never get them done?

you should definatly get one. it is not just to check for std's. it helps to detect cancer. definatly think about going, it will be weird the first time, but its not that bad!

the smear test picks up on pre-cancerous cells in your cervix so its advised its not really too do with how many guys you've slept with

A pap smear is also to check for abnormal cells, tissue, etc. You should be getting one every year, for your own health, not necessarily for STD's.

every woman every year should get one done to test for abnormalities
