Some women love the Mirena. It can make your period go away, and you won't have to think about birth control.

Some women have problems with it, though: weight gain, mood swings, and/or lower libido. You won't know if you'll suffer these effects unless you try the IUD.

If you don't have bad side effects from the Pill, and you can remember to take it at the same time each day, you might want to stick with that birth control method. If you have trouble remembering to take it, or you want a reversible, long-term method of birth control, though, it may be worth it to you to try the Mirena. Maybe you should call your doctor and tell her you're having second thoughts. Be aware that a lot of doctors say the IUD doesn't cause weight gain, and minimize its other possible side effects, though.

Good luck.

I just got mine on the 23. I know it was not that long ago. But so far the only thing I have has is cramping like your period. They did not say anything to me about weight gain. It is different for everyone hun, I think you should try it. They will tell you that, to when you go in. the side effect different from people. But good luck hun, sorry I was not more help.

i've had my mirena in for a year now, but am going to have it taken out shortly, the reason for this is it has caused me to have 3week periods every month, this does usually occur when it is put in as your body is adjusting to it and should go away after 3months but unfortunately my body doesn't seem to like it,darn it,lol, other then that it is great, obviously it is different for everyone, alot of woman also stop getting there periods completely.i havn't noticed any mood swings or weight gain, you should definately talk to your doc about your concerns first tho. and if in 3-4months you decide it isn't for you it's easy to have removed, it is so much better then the pill tho
