Birth Control .... on Holiday?!

Question: I am going on holiday in June with my friends [I am 17] and the dates I am going should be the dates I am on my period. Obviously I don't want my period on holiday so I was considering birth control. Also the place I am going to there is alot of casual sex so I want to be protected in that sense aswell.

I am wanting to know if I should opt for the pill or the jag, I have heard a symptom can be weight gain, is this true and if so how much weight could you potentially gain. I am slim just now and dont want to gain weight before my holiday.

Thanx for any help

The reason that women gain weight on birth control is because it can sometimes increase their appetite...it does not actually cause your metabolism to slow down. Monitor how much you eat and you'll be fine, and if you find one that makes you extremely hungry, switch to another one.

go on the pill but dont have a withdrawal break if it comes up during your holiday just go straight onto the next packet, but only do this once or twice to skip a bleed

No matter what others do, you should avoid casual sex!!!!!
What about STD? and many other things, besides your reputation;;;;

If by "the jag" you mean depo provera, don't get it. There are too many horrible affects and health issues that a majority of women get.

Talk to your doctor about the types and choices you have, and why you want to get on it (your holiday).

That's really sick. You're planning on going on vacation where there is a bunch of sex laying around. And you plan on participating?! That is really gross. You need to use condoms, as birth control isn't 100% effective and is not at all effective against STDs. But to answer your question. You need to talk to your GYN to figure out when you'll need to start the pill to avoid your period. And this doesn't work all the time anyway. Weight gain is a symptom, but I actually lost weight.
Hope that helps.

You can get the depo shot right away, and it should stop your period from coming.
But there is no forsure guarentee with it! But I suggest try it, and hopefully it will work for you!

Birth control pills will help you regulate when your period occurs (it is more regular and usually much lighter and shorter). Weight gain is pretty negligible, IF it happens, you probably won't even notice it.

A separate issue: if you're going to participate in casual sex; make sure to use a condom or barrier -- you won't get pregnant on the pill, but it won't stop you from contracting STDs!! Sex is great, but STDs can be life-threatening.

Have fun and stay safe!
