What was your period like after your mirena IUD was inserted?!

Question: Ive had my mirena IUD inserted 8 months ago. I am breastfeeding my daughter and got my period at 6 months but now at 8 months it hasnt come. Is this related to the IUD? Ive also lost a fair bit of weight (26lbs) since the beggining of Dec. Im now 140lbs and 5'6. Could losing the weight fast contribute to the missing period?????
THanks :)

The Mirena can cause the cessation of periods. So can rapid weight loss. Your BMI (Body Mass Index) is in the normal range, so I suspect the IUD is the cause of this.

I don't know, but that don't sound too good.

Some women quit having their period after having a mirena put in, mine are still like they always were. I was hoping to be one of the lucky ladies who quit. I have missed 2 periods in the 2 years since I had mine put in.

IUD is not natural to your body and your body tries to reject it, it also tricks your body into thinking your pregnant.

I got severly ill from a IUD and I still haven't recovered from the damage it did to my body.

I have the same IUD and the way it was explained to me is that 90% of women will have no period and the poor 10% thats left will continue to suffer.

Mirena was being advertised as a way to stop preg AND your period. I have had mine since March (now Jan again) and have had my period every single month, sometimes twice a month.

In the beginning, my first period after getting the Mirena, my period lasted for over a month, straight.

I hate the Mirena and some folks report not having a period. Many report what i have said here.

Before ANYONE gets the Mirena, I say be sure you just want to end the possibility of preg..don't pay hundreds (after the part covered by insurance) and painful instertion if you just want to end your period. The pills do much, much better for that.
