Skipped periods?!

Question: I've skipped for about 3ish months now. I went to the medical center at my school (I can't be pregnant because I've never had sex) and the nurse practitioner said, given my past history of skipping, it wasn't a big deal. I could take birth control to regulate it but it's much nicer to just skip - but I'm not sure how healthy this is, how long I should let it go, etc. Any doctors on the boards? Should I get a second opinion?

Past History: Always irregular, skipped a lot during summers but was regular during the winter. Went to an all-girls' school so there were plenty of pheremones, but now at coed college and have skipped a lot.

There are many things that can cause an irregular period, I don't know if any workup has been done, but if you don't have an ob/gyn, you should consider getting one, it sounds like this is something that does not require urgent attention but may be something you want to deal with at a later date (for one thing, it will make it hard for you to have children eventually if it continues).
How much do you weigh? If you are very thin, it can sometimes cause your period to become irregular or even stop altogether.

I'd say take birth control to regulate your period, because skipped periods can weaken your bones.

When I got my first period when I was 13..(this is going to sound funny) I thought that you only had that bleeding once in your LIFE. Haha! That was because I didn't get another "girl time" for another 5 months. So no worries..that's completely normal. :)

hmmm
same with me!
my first time was about 4 years ago.
after my FIRST time, i didn't get it for another like 3 months.
then it was regular.
but then there was one time when i didn't have it again. but this time it was for 6 months. the next time i got it, it was for like 2 months STRAIGHT.
ugh.. it felt terrible.
now it's pretty regular.
wait a few more months. but i guess if you're worried or something, talk to your parents or go see a gynecologist.
good luck;]

Skipping is kinda normal nowadays. Look at all the birth control out that you get your period only 4 times a yr. I just had The Mirena IUD put in last week and I may not have my period for 5 yrs.
Don't worry, it's in your history. Mine was always like that. My moms too and my aunt!!! She finally was normal after her 1st kid. Me, I don't have any so I am nor,al because of b/control.

It happened to me. I decided to take pill because is more comfortable to know when your period is come. I used to have a lot of painful menstrual cramps but not anymore thanks to the pill.
Before take any particular pill go to your gynecologist to help you decided what kind of pill is best for u.
