Swimming with period?!

Question: Okay, so I have swimming class (unfortunately) and I have my period. Now I've heard people say there are two options: tampons, or that it will stop in the water. When I get my period, it usually just stays or rubs off on the pad, but it doesn't "go everywhere", if you know what I mean. I really don't want to wear tampons, as my mom doesn't have any and it would be EXTREMELY embarrassing to ask my teacher for one. I also heard that a bunch of people found tampons in the pool. What are the risks of going in the pool without wearing a tampon?

when i was growing up and having my period, and went swimming, I actually didn't wear anything. I made sure to wear a dark colored swimsuit. nothing too skimpy, and made sure I had a dark colored towel handy at all times. I was not a tampon sort of person, I don't think they are the slightest bit comfortable to wear. swimming is kind of like taking a shower or bath. Prior to being on birth control that has made it so I don't have regular periods anymore, I had extremely heavy periods and never had any sort of problems being in the pool.

just be sure that when you do get out, dry off quickly and wrap towel around you. don't keep your wet swimsuit on long, go in and change to dry clothing and put pad back on.

there aren't really any risks to going in the pool with out a tampon. period flow is not like a cut from a gash or other wound. It doesn't just flow out of you like a faucet.

Don't do it. You can have a flow surge.

Finding tampons in the pool is highly unlikey, since they would need to penetrate the bathing suit to get out.

Your best bet would be to find a tampon, or skip the swim.
.

I would ask my teacher (that is she is a woman) for a tampon.
And your chances are high just make sure you put one on right before you go swimming and when you are done take it out as soon as possible. Just for the duration of your class.
Good Luck!!!

Most likly it will be fine, the main thing would be getting in and out
if you have a thin panty liner you could use on your swim suit and wear shorts that would probably be no problem there
as for the tapons in the bottom in the pool wow thoughs people are gay haha dont worry about that

I wouldn't recommend swimming while on your period if you are not comfortable using tampons as your period will not stop in the water and it could cause embarrasment to you if someone was to notice.

If your periods are not heavy then maybe you could chance it specially if you just going to get straight in then straight out and changed

But if you have to sit on the side for some time then I wouldn't recomend it at all maybe just talk to your teacher and tell her you can't swim today cause you have your period or if you are embarrased about it then say you have a sore shoulder get your mum to write a note excusing you from it. or even ask your mum to buy you some tampons they aren't that difficult to use.

Good Luck

nothing.. this is what you do. sence it doenst go everywhere then your alright. so for class just get in and when water hits is bacly it stops but its more of a delay.. so i recamend when u get out and dry off then put on a pad or tampon.. going in the pool is sorta the same as taking a shower or bath on ur period.

i would ask some one for a tampon bc i would not want to take the chance of the water around me turning red. that would be more embarrassing

I always wear a tampon when swimming. When I was in high school this nerdy girl had her period in swim class and as she got up off the bench by the pool after swimming it was bloody where she sat. Poor thing, it compounded her nerdyness. Ask your girl friends for a tampon, the school clinic or your teacher, assuming she is a woman. Does school have vending machines in the bathrooms for girl products? All women understand don't be afraid to ask. We've all been there. Good luck.

Dont go in a pool without one. Your blood somehwta hold up a bit, but u will still bleed, and how embarrassing would THAT be?? lol.

If you dont have any tampons, you mom will definitley understand and get you some for swimming. She's probly wondering why you havent asked yet lol.

So get tampons fior swimming.. They will not come out in the pool unless you didnt put it in properly.

Good luck! =]

Sometimes they sell tampons in the changing rooms, so maybe bring a dollar or two with you when going to your swimming class. If you're not comfortable with that though, you could put a piece of toilet paper up "there" {not far, just far enough to stop the flow and to take it out!} and try not to spread your legs as much as you can. I suggest not to go in without a tampon though, because you never know what could happen, and the flow really gets going once you get out of the pool.

When I did it I had on a pad. Lol the pad swole up because it soak up water but I think it should be fine. If you dont want to use a tampon try a pad. Some of my cousins use tampons in the swimming pool though. Good luck though

sorry because I'm not POSITIVE but im pretty sure that theres something about being in water that stops the bleeding. which means you would probably be safe not wearing anything in the pool, just rinsing really well before going in. my friend told me that (and her mom's a nurse) and when i thought about it, it makes sense because i know i never bleed in the shower when i have my period. if you wear nothing and you DO bleed in the pool, though, it wouln't really be a big deal, right? it sounds gross, but just swish the water around a little and no one will even notice. plus its not as gross if you think about all the chlorine in the pool. lol sorry this is so long =]
