My periods cause me so much pain...?!
Question: i stayed home from school crying and whincing in pain :( im going to the doctor to be put on birth control so i wont have to go through this next month...what is the safest, best pill to ask for?

There is no safest pill and there is no best pill. The reason? Every pill works differently for every person. Cramping pain was the reason I went onto the pill...and so far....no such luck and I'm on my 4th prescription! of course, I've been switched from things like anger/depression to constant bleeding/spotting, to blood clots, to not providing ANY relief from cramps at all (of course there are many more side effects I have experienced). What one pill might be right for me, may not be for you.
Basically, your doctor will ask you a whole bunch of questions, and if you have been sexually active, you will receive a PAP smear before going onto the pill. Your doctor will also give you a prescription as to what he/she feels will help you the best.
I wish you luck and I hope that you don't have to go through what I have gone through so far.

It is sometimes a case of trial and error to figure out which one will be best for you. Be patient!
Any low dose pill will be safer than the older higher dose pills. Your doctor will talk to you about what problems you are having and help you chose a pill or chose one for you that is most likely to help with your periods. Just because the pill works great with one person, does not mean that it will work for you. Most women have to try different pills before they find a form of artificial hormones that help them without bad side effects. Where you are in so much pain, you might like seasonique where you only have 4 periods a year.
