Best Over the Counter Birth Control?!

Question: I'm 20, and I hate going to doctors... So I was wondering what the best type of over the counter birth control was? I'm looking for something that works well.. and doesn't cause 100 bucks.

While condoms are the most reliable when properly used,
there are many spermicides that are quite effective as well.

All of the following are readily available at most major drug store chains. I have tried the sponges, the suppository type inserts, the gels, the foams and the films and personally, I prefer the films and sponges.
The reason I prefer those two is: 1) Less messy
2) longer lasting because they keep in place longer

One down side of the sponge, it is costlier, at about $10 for a 3 ct. box & $20 for a 6 ct. box.

VCF comes in 3 -to 12 Ct boxes ranging from $5 - $13

Encare is a suppository type and is cheaper, but messier, as are the foams and gels.

condoms

a condom, the sponge, and there is always the spermicidal foam.

Condoms

condoms hands down.

Condoms

Condoms or abstinance?

Abstinence

I haven;t heard of ANY birth control that comes without a prescription.

there really is none.

planned parenthood is prob your best bet because it confidential and 20 dollars.

The only over the counter birth control's that are out there are condoms (male and female), spermicide, vaginal sponge, and the morning after pill (which shouldn't be used on a regular basis). If you are not wanting to go to a doctor I would use a condom and spermicide... remember that birth control is never 100% effectvie so be careful also! I hope this helps you out!

Try a rubber band to tie your knees together!
You don't want to spare any extra expense for safety ?

Kristine B has good advice
planned parenthood is your best bet

A large cork.

condoms or VCF (Vaginal Contraceptive Films)...the VCF are nice since you can not wear a condom...you just stick the little slip (covered in spermicide) in before sex and he can finish inside and if you're worried, you can use another one just in case

condoms and spermicide.

Abstinence. It's free and 100% effective. No birth control can do that.

It's all about the dissolving film strips. I Love them! The only downside is you have to put them in 15 minutes before intercouse. But that leaves plenty of time for foreplay. On days where I know I'm ovulating, we use good ol' condoms.

condoms with spermicide. these should be used whether you have prescribed bc or not. control the spread of std's and be sexually responsible. use a condom every time no matter what. no glove, no love.

I must also say that if you are sexually active or planning on becoming sexually active soon, you need to see a gyno at least once a year for your health.
