If you can, try to get tampons, as those really help.
If you think you might be bleeding too much, get in touch with your doctor or gynecologist--there may be a little adjusting that needs done.
I personally had terribly heavy and painful (and I mean PAINFUL--couldn't look at light, eat, I'd throwup, couldn't move) periods. I tried this menstrual pain medication Ponstel that helped....and then I discovered the Pill. AMAZING. Periods are lighter, shorter, less painful, and regular!
Double up regular pads putting one on top of the other. Also get a proper check up by a gynecologist to see why your periods are heavy.

A 6 week period is not normal for anyone.. Sweetie you need to see a different doctor and find out what is causing this and get this under control.. See someone A.S.A.P..
