Why do some Antibiotics cause.....discomfiort and itching?!

Question: It's because in attacking the bacteria that is causing your infection, it also destroys the good bacteria that keeps yeast in check, so it's free to grow. I always ask my doctor to prescribe dyflucan for me too at the same time. It's a one pill remedy for yeast, available in several different names.

Because it's making the bad stuff rise out of your body and it increases blood flow

Always make sure you eat yogurt everyday when you take antibiotics, and drink a lot of water.

yes it is if you have an allergy in medicine so be careful in taking medicine if theres no prescrition by the doctor if your an allergenic type of person

All medications have side effects. Antibiotics are no exception. They can cause diarrhea, itching, upset stomach, just to name a few. If they cause a rash you may be allergic to them. If that is the case you may have to notify your doctor.

Madison is right -- antibiotics kill everything, even the good bacteria that help your body. This can lead to yeast infections (vaginal itching), upset tummies, even itchy skin.

And someone else is right about the yogurt. Plain yogurt is a great balancer because it's got "probiotics" -- the good bacteria. Eat some as a snack between antibiotic dosages (for example, if you take the AB every meal, have a yogurt at 10, 3 and 8 p.m. -- about two hours before/after the dosage).

Yogurt is also a great ointment -- just apply it to where the itching is. If it's vaginal itching, you might want to wear a sanitary pad to catch the extra yogurt.

I think it's also a good idea to cut down on sugar while you are taking antibiotics.

Hope you are feeling better soon!
