Starting birth control without period?!
Question: I stopped taking birth control about 2 months ago when I was very sick. I finally got a refill on them and I'm ready to get back on them again. But without birth control my period is irregular. I remember I didn't have my period for nearly a year - it was just normal for me. I am sexually active and I would rather be able to use birth control and condoms as well. I am not pregnant, I know this for sure. So has anyone taken theirs on a Sunday when they just didn't have a period? I don't mind the little spotting or getting a little sick. I've been on the pill for years and have experiences it all.

i had the same problem..i was on Yasmin and decided to stop in dec. Now i have decided to try Diane 35 ...b/c of my acne and b/c my periods are irregular WITHOUT the pill i wasn't too sure when to start. I called up the pharmacist and questioned her (b/c getting a docs apt wud take too long) and shes like i could just start it right away. They just recommended i start it on a sunday or the first day of your period.
As well as the first time i started the pill (earlier last year) i started it without having my period....no harm done.
Yeah... i had ovarian cysts too! lol ..hmm and yeah yasmin was amazing except...i'm skinny and before yazmin i was on Marvelon and lost weight :| and then moved to Alesse and didnt gain any of that weight back...So then i tried Yasmin...my weight went up a bit and was stable.
I am currently using the Diane 35 for my acne cause ever since i came off yasmin it ..my acne came back...and im hoping it helps me to gain some weight :)
I got told by the doctor u HAVE to wait til ur period to start the pill. U either start the first day of ur period or the first sunday of ur period.
It's best to start the first day of your period or the weekend after your period starts. You can start at other times but I think it means you have to use a back-up form of contraception for longer (at least 14 days maybe a month) and you also are at more a risk of irregular spotting and other issues for the first 3 months or so. But if you're maybe not going to get a period any time soon then I guess just start taking them, check with your doctor or pharmacist though. BTW has your doctor searched for the cause of your irregular periods?
you dont have to start the week of your period bc my sister wanted to change her period days so the dr told her to take it another day
