Abnormal PAP Smear??? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY!!!?!

Question: I am 23 years old and I just received word from my doctor's office that I had an abnormal pap test. The nurse told me that they didn't see any cancer cells but to come in for a colposcopy to investigate the problem. Should I be worried? What can I expect from the results?

colposcopies are wonderful, they probably found some cells in there that if not frozen, they can become cancerous. should you be concerned now? no, but make sure you follow through and you'll be fine

not yet no....
as there r alot things that they mite b looking for.

if there wasn't ne cancer cells at this thime try not to worry.

did they say nething about precancer cells???

if this is the case then these can change there slef back to normal..
it cud a number of things that can cause these's .... like ur not very well or u hav a virus.. mayb even thrush.

try not to worry they deal wiv cases like these everyday

they probably want to just hav a look and take some tissue from the top of ur cervix...

but in ne of these cases they results come back fine...
good luck and all the best :)

A friend of mine had this happen and it was fine. They did the test and as it turned out the cells they found were just damaged from a really bad yeast infection. So keep your head up I am sure everything will be all right.

Don't worry just yet. Colposcopies are very routine. A pap can come back abnormal for tons of different reasons. Could be as simple as having sex 48-72 hours before your pap, having a vaginal infection, an STD or even cancerous/precancerous cells. Since your doctor said they didn't see any cancerous cells you should be ok. Just make sure to follow up and do what the dr says and you will be fine.

Don't exactly worry yourself to death. My sister had an abnormal pap test a year ago, and they said she might have cervical cancer. Turned out it was a mess up on their part. Don't worry but do be cautious. IT is best that they catch whatever it is early on. Good luck.
