Why don't people like abortion?!

Question: I'm not saying it's bad or good. Actually, I'm pretty young and I don't really understand what abortion is. I know it stops birth or something but I don't know completly about it. Can someone explain alittle more about it and how it works and if you don't like it can you tell me why?

Like the other gal said, abortion is removing the fetus (baby) from the mother's uterus before it is ready to be born.
When a baby starts, it is about the size of the head of a pin. It takes about 40 weeks to grow from that size until it is ready to be born, when it will weigh between 5 and 10 pounds.
The uterus is like a balloon, and where it opens is called the cervix, which is like the part of the balloon you tie off. It doesn't get tied off, but it closes itself when the woman is pregnant. The cervis opens into the vagina, which leads to the outside of the mother's body.

I am going to tell you about the abortion procedures. Some of this is horrifying, and I am really sorry about that. You do not have to read this if you don't want to. If you want to stop reading here, I will tell you that I don't like it, because I believe it is killing a baby. The other lady kind of indicated that she thought a woman should have a choice. I think so, too. But I think that when our choices involve killing other people, it is not a choice anymore.

This is the yucky part.

There are a few different types of abortion procedures. One is a suction abortion. These are performed prior to 12 weeks of pregnancy, and the doctor sticks a suction tube (this is kind of like the one the dentist uses to suction the spit out of your mouth, but way, way stronger). The suction tip is too small to allow the whole baby through, so the baby's body is broken up, and they take out the parts that attach the baby to the mother's body, too, so that the mother won't get sick.

Another kind is called a D & C. It stands for diletation and curettage. Diletation is opening the cervix, and curetage is when the doctor takes a knife, and uses it to scrape out the baby and the placenta. It can be a little painful, but the doctor tries to be very careful and not cut the woman.
Sometimes a woman willhave to have this procedure if the baby has died, or if she has problems with her period, too. So don't think that just because somebody says they had a D&C, that they had an abortion. It might not be so.

Those are the two basic procedures for 1st trimester (the first twelve weeks of pregnancy).

Later in pregnancy, it is not possible to do these kinds of abortions, so they do other things.

One is called a saline abortion. Saline is a mixture of salt and water. They mix up a lot of salt into the water, and use a big needle to inject it right through the mother's belly, into the amniotic fluid (this is the water that surrounds and protects the baby). In the second trimester, the baby grows from being about 2 or 3 inches long to being about 10 inches long or so. At this stage, it's skin is very thin and delicate. The salty water is like acid, and it burns the baby's skin, and gets into its bloodstream and the baby dies. Then the doctor dialates the mother's cervix, and gives her a medicine to make her uterus contract and expel the baby.

Another type of abortion, for even later abortions (these are not performed often) is called a partial-birth abortion. This is particularly gruesome, so don't read any more if this last stuff has been hard for you.

Partial-birth abortion is where they deliver the baby partially, until the head is sticking out, then they cut the back of the baby's neck with a scissor, and use a suction instrument to suction out the baby's brains.

I hope that you understand. I wish I didn't have to tell you this, because you are so young. It is really horrible to know what kinds of terrible things people do to each other. I am also really sorry, because I know that reading things like this is really hard on your mind and your heart. There are lots of terrible things in the world, and the best any of us can do, is just be as kind and loving as we can.

An abortion is when a doctor surgically removes an unwanted pregnancy from a woman's uterus, usually before the 12th week of pregnancy.

Many people consider it murder because they value the future life of a "baby" more than they respect the choice of the woman who it actually affects.

youre having surgery to take your baby out of your womb.

if you ask me its murder.

you shouldnt be having sex if you cant handle a baby.

just because someone makes a mistake doesnt mean the child should pay for it

because it is cruel!!!!!!!!! It kills an unwanted baby!!

They are against it because of that whole baby killing thing

It's when a woman takes the choice to stop pregnancy.
And it is her choice.
Anyone judginge her for it is insensitive.

Well, you pretty much know that when someone shoves a pair of scissors into the back of a baby's skull and into its brain, and then sucks it out with a vacuum... well, that's why people don't like abortion.

Abortion is when if a woman is pregnant, and doesn't want the baby for some reason, she goes to the doctor and they abort the baby. They can do this by suctioning out the fetus, or killing the fetus with chemicals or acids. There are also other ways, but you get the point. What happens is that the fetus is killed and the mother delivers a dead fetus.
People don't like abortion because it is like murder. It is killing an unborn child when that child has done absolutely nothing wrong to deserve it. There are other ways to not have to raise a baby. Not having sex is one. Giving the baby up for adoption is another.
Personally, I'm against abortion unless there are certain circumstances. For instance, if the baby would be born with severe or life-threatening abnormalities, and if the doctors were able to save it, and for the rest of its life it would be in pain or completely paralyzed or something, then I would abort it. I wouldn't want anyone to have to live that way from birth. Also, if someone were raped, and they got pregnant, I wouldn't argue too much if they decided to abort. I mean, for one, for nine months you would be carrying someone's baby, who you may or may not know, and every time you looked at your growing belly, you would remember that horrible experience. Then again, you can just have the baby and give the it up for adoption if seeing it would make you remember being raped. Or the mother could just not handle being pregnant at the moment, for any reason. The life of the baby is partially the mother's decision, seeing as though the fetus, if it is young enough, has no brain and doesn't consciously know it exsists yet.
It's a very controversial subject, really, and opinions go both ways.

An abortion is the 'termination' of a 'pregnancy' meaning the killing/eliminating the life of a very small, unborn child.
Several states allow you to abort (kill) a child that is still in the mothers uterus even past the age the child could live outside the uterus without assistance.
Several other states have laws that you can only have an abortion within the first 12 weeks. By week 6 the child is so well formed that he/she has a heart, lungs, intestines, hands, feet and even fingerprints.
To justify killing a small child because the mom doesn't want to face the consequences of her actions is horrible.
It is also traumatic for most moms though, b/c it is a very difficult and painful decision.
I've experienced both sides (both the protesting abortion and abortion) and I can understand where both parties are coming from.
I don't think it should be outlawed b/c having it in a safe environment is better than going back to non-sterile, non-medical abortions. I also think, though, that women should be more educated about abortions and birth control options so that the need for abortion can all but be eliminated.

An abortion is.. Well, without using really big words and everything.. It's.. um.. Well after a woman is pregnant and the baby has started developing and the woman doesn't want the baby anymore, a doctor will take the baby out... They actually stab through the baby's skull to kill it, then take it out of the woman. People consider this murder because well, it is. It's killing a living human.

It is because they are afraid they will die and they might not give birth in the future or loose much blood and might die of the pain.
The baby is been killed and they think it is murder.

basiclly murder.

An abortion is an interruption of pregnancy. There are many forms of abortions: some involve surgery and some use medications. The most common form of surgical abortion is vacuum aspiration in which the fetus is sort of sucked out of the uterus.
The controversy surrounding this issue is: should the mother be allowed to essentially "kill' the fetus and make a choice as to when she wants to be a mother or should the baby's life be given more importance and the mother have no right to make a choice? Plus, the government dictates under what circumstances a woman can have abortion(like rape and danger to the health of the mother). In some states, the father of the baby has to be notified and so do the parents. Its abominable, really. it is our body and we should be allowed what goes on in our body.
Personally, I support abortions: it makes sure that only those individuals who want to be pregnant and think they can be good parents, will go through with pregnancies. I gives women choice over what goes on in their bodies and trust me pregnancy is no joke- there are various things going on that we as women should physically and emotionally be ready for. As to the child's right: I think that the 'fetus' can only be considered living if it can live outside of the mother's womb independent of the mother and that doesn't happen before the fifth or sixth month. And abortions are usually suggested only before the fourth month.

Basically, an abortion is an operation that ends a pregnancy by removing the undeveloped embryo from the uterus. A woman might decide to abort a pregnancy because the embryo is too damaged to be born as a healthy person, or because the woman has medical problems that make pregnancy dangerous to her health, or because she was impregnated against her will (rape), or because she knows she can't take care of a baby properly for whatever reason.

That's the basic fact. From that point forward, pretty much everything else you'll hear will be more emotional than logical.

Many people feel that their emotions must control other people. Those include the people who annswered above using scary (and often false) descriptions, and use emotional words like "murder."

I think you have all the info on abortions now.

People don't like it because it is murder. I think, if you can't handle bringing another life onto the world then DON'T HAVE SEX and if you do have sex and get pregnant you can put the baby up for adoption if you don't want it. There are plenty on people who can't have children and for so many women to be killing them left and right instead of adoption ...it is so wrong. I know someone that has had 7 abortions! That is just irresponsible and I don't know how they can live with themselves.
