I've given "the talk" a lot, I had 3 kid sisters and parents who never explained anything. Plus assorted nieces & nephews, younger cousins, about a hundred times here...

I usually gave the basic version at 10, with the addition "there are a lot of other ways, I'll give you details if you want to ask later when you hear about them.

Since oral gets joked about in sit-coms, I usually have had to explain that within a week.

I figure that 10 or 11 is early enough, from the kids I've known. If they ask their friends, who knows what wrong info they will get?

BTW, teenwire.com is a good educational site. So is scarleteen.com.

when they ask? theres no real need to tell them

Every situation is different, but you should certainly ask them about it instead of getting your information from the web.

I'm sure if they knew where you're getting your info from, they would want to speak to you. You can't just trust everything you read online.

Ask your parents.

Well... first of all, if you are looking on the internet, then you probably know enough. Please remember, there are two sides to sex. The physical and the emotional. A lot of kids think that just because they think they are ready for the physical part, they forget about the fact that sex is a very serious, emotional experience. If you can be open with your parents, then ask them to explain everything to you. Sometimes the web can give you misinformation. There is also protection and STD's. Go talk to your parents.

i don't think that parents should explain sex to you. It's something that's very personal, and shared between two people. If you wait until you are with your mate, you will learn all there is to know.

i guess about 12 13 because that's the age when kids really start to wont to have sex

by the age of 11, you've probably already had the discussion at school. i guess if ur asking questions, there is no right age. some kids ask where babies come from. you answer , from the tummy. the older u get, the more details r provided. maybe it makes them feel more secure to talk about it to you. embarrassing as it may b, just listen to them with respect.

u r only eleven. all u need to know about sex is not to do it till you are older. like 18 or 20. u do not understand why now, but believe me, you will be glad you waited and stayed away from sex at such a young age.
