Bladder infection or Kidney infection??!

Question: Me and my boyfriend have been trying to conceive, so recently we've been having a lot of sex in the past week. Well throughout the beginning of the day today i had lower slight abdomen pains and then by 6 p.m. i noticed a slight sting/burn at the very end of urination. When i wiped, the paper was very light pink. I had to pee like 5 minutes later and same thing, but this time there was small dots of blood in the toilet. It's 10:30 now and ive had to pee VERY frequently. (or rather, had the urge to pee). I'm extremely scared, i already have a scheduled gyno visit tuesday. Should I go to the hospital? I've never had a bladder infection or anything like that so i'm really freaked out :(
Thanks for your answers!!

There is no need to go to the hospital. You have the classic symptoms of a urinary tract infection (also commonly called a bladder infection or kidney infection - although they aren't exactly the same thing). While a UTI can certainly be painful, and can lead to more serious problems if left untreated, it's not an urgent issue. When you see your doctor, just tell him or her that you think you probably have a UTI. They will have you pee in a cup, then come back and tell you whether or not you have an infection, and give you a prescription for an antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or nitrofurantoin (Macrobid). Just finish the course of therapy, and you'll probably be totally symptom free within a few days - but make sure to finish the antibiotics even if you are feeling well.

Also, the increased frequency of sex can certainly contribute to a UTI by causing bacteria to become lodged in the urinary tract. A good bit of advise is to always urinate after having sex to flush out the urethra.

You'll probably want to see a doctor before Tuesday, primarily because of the discomfort the UTI will cause.

U HAVE A UTI WHICH IS A BLADDER INFECTION.. AND U COULD DRINK CRANBERRY JUICE BUT IT HAS TO BE 100% AND DRINK LOTS OF WATER THIS WILL HELP BUT IT WILL NOT TAKE THE INFECTION WAY... U NEED TO GET ON MEDS TO TAKE THE INFECTION AWAY U SHOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR SOONER THEN THAT CUZ IF IT GETS WORST UR GOING TO BE IN A LOT OF PAIN... I KNOW I HAVE HAD PLENTY...DUE TO KIDNEY PROBLEMS..

ER. NOW. If you're experiencing THAT type of discomfort then you need to get in and be seen immediately (now...not Tuesday). They can give you med's that will help to numb the urinary tract till your antibiotics can help, but what you have (cystitis) is NOTHING to mess with.

I've had it so bad that I was sitting on the bathroom floor screaming in agony and had to be taken to the ER in an ambulance.

GO NOW.
