Can anyone give some advice from experience?!

Question: I noticed a slight staining in my underwear, pinkish colour on Christmas day. My periods are exceptionally irregular always have been since I started at 15. I am now 24. I took a pregnancy test on the 15th of January and it was negative thank god. I then took another test last night and it was negative. Finally I took one this morning to be 100% sure and it was also negative. I just don't know what is going on. I went to the doctors about this a while ago and he said that if my mother had the same problem with ehr cycle that it was probably genetic and could be poycystic ovaries. But why the slight bleed? There was hardly anything there, plus I had twinge pains in my ovary that day too. Anyone else been in my situation?

that is almost exactly how i got my diagonsis of pcos, i didn't get my period for 8 months and had negitive test after test and finally saw a doctor. For years i would have irregular periods and from time to time really really light ones like you are describing. I suggest finding a good endocrinologist since they work with hormones if you can find one who specializes in pcos. My first period after my diagonisis was such a relif its really nice just just have a name for the problem. Also www.soulcysters.net is a great support site w/ lots of info!

So what kind of treatment did the doctor offer you? And if you have these cysts they do grow and you will eventually have to have surgery to remove them so if this doctor didn't give you medicine or offer you the advice you wanted get another doctor

maybe due to stress! christmas day has been over a month ago so at least 1 test would have shown up positive i would have thought. If you dont have any symtons such as dizzy spells, morning sickness, going off certain foods - tea, coffee then i wouldnt worry about being pregnant. If your still not happy go back to your doctor and ask them to investigate

Sometimes you bleed a little when you ovulate. The "follicle" holding the egg burst and you might feel a little twingy pain. You didnt mention what kind of test the dr. ordered. I surely hope he didnt just send you home after telling you it "might" be genetic. With spotting being a symptom of cervical cancer , he better had at least done a pap smear, assuming he did- You said you've been taking pregnancy tests and "thank God" they were negative, this means your having unprotected sex. A pap smear is NOT designed to detect STD's or other pelvic infections that might cause spotting, it's to screen for cervical cancer. You need to get tested for gohnorrea & clamydia. Both may produce the "slight bleed" your complaining about. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck my dear. It's your body and you have the right to demand answers.

i had the same problems and was recently diagnosed with polycystic ovarys so definately get that checked out at your drs to be sure. the bleed was just a side effect as you can spot between periods on it, but that was when i had pelvic inflammatory disease last year. i hope you find the answers your looking for. good luck.

Do check with your doctor.

It could be just a symptom of rather energetic sex in the preceding days, or doing it in an unusual position. Slighlty rough sex can also 'batter' your internal organs, icluding your ovary(ies), although it is more commonly the bladder.

Or, as others have said, it may be an infection of some sort, which is more likely in unprotected sex, but this does not necessarily imply unfaithfulness in your partner!

See the doc, to set your mind at rest and get him to do a test for PCOS, although my periods were always all over the place, yet I got pregnant ' at the drop of hat'... six times! ;-)
