women DON'T die of pregnancy, they die of complications related to pregnancy, things like uncontrollable bleeding, shock, uncontrolled blood pressure, the list goes on and on.
Just an edit, can't agree with the doc above, pregnancy deaths and infant mortality are on the rise in the US. Mostly I think due to our lousy health care/ insurance set up.
Many ways, a common one is blood loss, however there are limitless complications that can happen during a pregnancy that could cause death (thank god they usually don't)
it can happen when the woman can not stop bleeding and dies from blood loss
If you have an ectopic pregnancy, you have to undergo an operation. I have a friend whose sister died during her 5th pregnancy because it was ectopic.
Pregnancy carries many risks, from minor to fatal. Women who die during pregnancy often do so due to infection, bleeding, blood clots, and some rare blood/liver disorders. Certain problems related to miscarriage can also be fatal. Don't let this worry you, though. It's not very common for a woman to die due to a pregnancy complication.
Blood loss, allergic reaction to medication, various infections, ruptured organs, ect.
Complications, toxemia...so many possibilities. But usually when there is so other underlying heath issue.
