That's not true. Mom's are wonderful, but they tell us a lot of white lies to make us do/not do certain things. My mum used to tell us that eating the crust on our sandwhiches would make our hair beautiful and curly.

The worst I've heard was from a group of moms who told their girls that the HPV vaccine would make it hard for them to have babies.

Haha. However this one is probably because many moms are afraid that if you wear a bra with support (making your breasts look nicer and larger) you'll get a lot of attention from boys and might make bad decisions. That's pretty crazy. Just let your mom know that you've done research and have found that there is no real evidence that they cause cancer. Just let her know that you really just need the support and that you would feel more comfortable. There are many great underwire bras these days that won't cause you pain or discomfort.

If she still says no, there are many underwire-free bras these days that offer the same support :)

Your mom is retarded.

I don't think they do.

that is entirely false.

This is myth.
And deodorant doesn't cause cancer either.

only if it is too tight dont wear them every day, but know days EVERYTHING causes breast cancer you never know whats right or wrong!

Not true at all. People don't get cancer from metal, otherwise would people wear necklaces, get pins in broken legs, etc?

that's ridiculous

my mom said the same thing.
but its all a lie.... they say EVERYTHING can cause some kind of cancer... like looking in a microwave when its on? i have done that and i don't have cancer..
i wear a wire bra all the time too...

I have never heard of that. If that was the case, don't you think they would stop making them. I would tell your mom that it is your body and you are going to wear what makes you comfortable and gives you the most support.

theres no link to underwire bras and cancer my doctor and i have discussed this she said either type which ever i prefer i am larger breasted and prefer a soft cup the wired type cause my skin to break out

No, they don't. I don't know how this silly story got started but there's simply no truth to it.

Jeremy, you shouldn't be calling anybody else's mom retarded. Yours gave you to the world, didn't she?

There is ZERO scientific evidence that under-wire bras cause breast cancer. They CAN occasionally cause irritation to a low milk gland, to a sweat gland, or to a lymph node, but they do NOT cause cancer. Nor will eating too much chocolate, or wearing underarm deodorant.

If you have ANY questions about breast cancer, check out this site:

It has a BUNCH of really good information. Misinformation (such as what you mother spouts) is where urban terror-myths spring from! Get your information from a reliable source.

Bra's with underwires DO NOT cause Breast Cancer. That's right up there with Deoderant causing breast cancer as well and it's simply not true!! Perhaps your Mother should read up on these things before frightening her daughter into thinking such utter nonsense!

Not true at all

there are no studies to suggest that women that wear under wires have a higher or lower rate of breast cancer.

thats the strangest thing.

NO!!!
Absolutely not, and you need a good supportive bra, wired offers the best support. Wear wires.
