I use Loestrin 24 fe. I have had no side effects. From my first month on it I had only 3 day long periods that were very light. That doesn't happen with everyone though so be aware of any side effects. I've been on it for over 1 year, with the exception of 1 month when I tried Yaz.

I used LoEstrin 1.5/30 for over 10 years and very much liked it.

However, be aware that one person's experience is NOT going to be another person's. What you suffer will not be the same as another person as far as side effects go, and vice versa.

This is why there are SO many BCP choices on the market. If one pill doesn't work for you, you can switch to another and another till you find one that's good for YOUR body chemistry.

Hi Very slight chance of a thrombosis in the leg but Stop immediately if you get any of the following
stabbing pains and/or unusual swelling in one leg, pain on breathing or coughing, coughing up blood,
sudden breathlessness, sudden severe chest pain, migraine or severe headaches,
sudden disturbance in vision, hearing or speech,
sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, fainting, collapse,
epileptic seizure, significant rise in blood pressure, itching of the whole body,
yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice), severe stomach pain, severe depression, or if you think you could be pregnant.

Loestrin has the same side effects of any other bcp - Most side effects of the pill are not serious. I don't know where a previous submitter got those horrendous descriptions of seizures, etc..but these are NOT generally associated with Loestrin-24.

The most common are nausea, vomiting, bleeding or spotting between menstrual periods, weight gain, breast tenderness, and difficulty wearing contact lenses. These side effects, especially nausea and vomiting, may decrease or subside within the first three months of use.

Occasionally when you start you may feel a little bloated, and you need to NOT SMOKE as there is always the increased risk of blood clots if you do. The sign of a stroke or blood clot is pain or swelling in one calf. Shortness of breath if the clot breaks off or loss of feeling on one side of the body. But, remember, blood clots is a RARE - not frequent side effect

And, on the up side, your skin will clear up and your period will be only 3 days.

Remember, until you have been on the pill for a full month, it is best to continue to use condoms or foam and a diaphragm, or contraceptive sponge since there is a higher chance of failure in the first 30 days.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS remember bpc only protect against pregnancy...never against any stds! If you want to be safer, use condoms for ALL sex- including oral sex - because of the risk of getting infected with the major nasties for which we have no cure: herpes, hepatitisB, gonorrhea, syphilis, HPV, HIV/Aids, genital warts, CMV and so on
