Help with severe PMS?!

Question: I'm on Yaz birth-control (not to be confused with YASMINE), which is supposed to help it, but it really doesn't anymore. At first, it did great, but now it's not. I have really severe depression before and during my period and I don't know what to do about it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Go to the doctor/nurse who prescribed your birth control and describe the problems you're having with PMS. He/she will be able to advise you and may recommend switching to a different birth control. I had to switch birth controls several times for various reasons and if one isn't working for you, it's ok to try a different one.

Try taking fish oil every day. It can help with depression.
Magnesium is also good. It helps with depression, moods swings and cramping. Vitamin D requirements have been raised quite a bit and it is a nutrient you could need to prevent these problems. Exercise is important too. Walk, bike or swim every day that you can. These things, taken together can help. Acupuncture can be very effective, but it costs more.
