So I'm getting very anxious...?!

Question: Ok, so I got my period on Mon Jan 28 (it was a little early, but it happens, no big deal). It is now Sat and I'm still getting a lot of blood, but it doesn't seem right. I never really used tampons until this past summer (for a number of reasons, part fear part stubbornness) but since then I use them regularly. But this current period i had to work at them a bit more than usual (I'm using some cheapo ones i bought to save money so they're not as comfortable to insert to begin with) but one time (tues or wed night i think) it didn't go in all the way (very uncomfortable!) now the last tampon i took out looked normal except for a dark spot in one corner like clotted blood or something. could i have torn something in there? cause now i'm losing a LOT of bright red blood when my period should be slowing down. I don't have a tampon in right now, will it maybe heal on it's own? It's pretty scary, I don't know what's going on. Please help!

If you are soaking your pads (1 ever hour)--then you should call a DR, speak to the nurse--they would tell you what to do next. Also, bleeding longer than 7 days, or are passing a lot of clots could signal a problem--then you should call your dr as well. Some clots can be normal, a lot or large clots might not be normal. And this whole situation might just be normal. I usually have a heavier day on my second day. Sometimes the 3rd, but that might depend on when I actually started my period. Some months worse than others. I think it's hormonal. If you are not soaking thru pads (1 an hour), then just see how the rest of today goes.

This site seems to have some good info. http://womenshealth.about.com/cs/abnorma...
