Menstruation & Surgery?!

Question: Hey,

I have a foot surgery on Wednesday, and I just started menstruating today. Is it ok to have surgery while menstruating? I'm sorry if it seems juvenile, but I've never had a surgery before. Thanks lots.

Yes it is fine. Your period will have nothing to do with your foot surgery. The only time a doctor would even think about it is if it was of course a reproductive surgery. Or a major surgery like heart surgery, or transplant. Of course you will need to mention any type of birth control pill or device you are using if any so that they will know of any interactions.

Take care & Good Luck

just mention it to he surgeon in case but i doubt there will be a problem.

Yes, it's okay. Just tell the nurse and they put a loose pad on you or under you. That's all they can really do. Do make sure you mention it at the hospital though.

its ok there is no problem.U must be getting spinal anaesthesia for it or if its minor one may be under local one.dont worry.

Yes its perfectly fine. I have seen so many women go through surgery and its around that particular time that pesky period decides ti surface. It will come during times of extreme stress. Sugery is stressful

As long as they do not need to investigate anything at that end then it will not be a problem, i have been operated on for a cyst inside of me where they had to go inside of me whilst on a period. Medicine has come a long way, it would not be a problem at all. And it does not sound juvenile, this is why the site is here for things we want to ask and to answer the things we do know. Good Luck

Tell the person the day before you are to check in that you are on your period and see what they say.
