Is it regular to be 39 days without a period?!

Question: I started my period a couple months ago. The first gap was 38 days. I didn't count the others. Now I have a gap of 40 days.

Is it normal to have a period every 39 days? Or does it have to be 28-30 to be healthy?

28 days is average, and anywhere from 25-31 days in between is the norm. It's considered abnormal if it comes in less than 2 weeks or more than 31 days. However, it is a lot more abnormal in the beginning, and you just started getting your period. Over time it will become more and more normal. For me, the beginning started with such a heavy period that lasted 8-10 days and I got it about every 2 weeks - ugh.

But in case if it doesn't stop being irregular for a few more months and you've got the time, you should just see a doctor and they can check you up and see if you're okay or not. You should be okay though.

Check this site for more answers about whether or not you need to see a doctor. It says here that your period is irregular for the first few years so you shouldn't worry about it.

I started my period when I was 12 years old (that was 9 years ago!) After my first period, I didn't get another one until 6 months later, than 4 months after that. It was awful because it always snuck up on me. For right now you are going through something very normal. After about two years, if it doesn't straighten out, you should go see your doctor. Nine years later, I still have my period between 28-40 days...so don't fret to much, 28 is only average, every woman is different!

are you expecting. I think so if your not protected
