Depo-shot?!

Question: I was on the Depo shot for about two years, its been about a year (a little longer, actually) and I still haven't gotten my period yet. Does this seem normal? I don't have any side effects that I am aware of, although very rarely I will get what feels like cramps, but I never get my period. I'm not sure if I should be worried or not. Help please! Also, what are the symptoms of cysts?

I was on the Depo shot for about four years and stopped having periods after about three months. When I went off of it, it was a year or maybe 14 months before my period returned. I seem to recall some of the crampy symptoms you describe too. It is my opinion you are fine. It takes time for the drug (hormone) to clear your system especially depending on how sensitive your body is to it. I wouldn't worry, but if you want reassurance, talk to your doctor. I'm sure he'll tell you the same. Enjoy the absence of the hassel in the meantime. :) I did.

I assume by cysts you mean ovarian cysts. Many cysts go without symptoms and is why many times the only way they are discovered are during a pelvic exam. Some symptoms can be:

-Lower abdominal or pelvic pain, which may intermittent, sudden, or sharp pain.
- Pelvic pain after exercise or sexual intercourse
- Spotting
- Infertility

These can be symptoms of other things as well. If you have any of them and are concerned, see your doctor. Just be sure to have your yearly pelvic exam and pap smear...if you haven't schedule one and express your concerns during the visit.

I think you are just having some of the normal symptoms of your body re-adjusting, but to be sure see a doctor. I hope this helps! Take care...

try going to the doctor something seems wierd. u could have been pregnant and now have a clacified fetus just sitting there in your stomach.. even tho thats like 1 out of 5 billion chance u should still see a doc

Depo scares me, I was on it for six months, I lost a lot of weight (to much weight) and was really depressed. And when I came off it I bled for three weeks.
but missing you piriod for a year sounds a little more serious. are you on different BC now that could be suppressing your period?
do you mean Polycysic ovary syndrome?
that usually gives you really heavy periods, weight gain and facial hair (sound lovely, huh)

but I'd talk to a good Gyn if I were you.
