Did I really screw up my birth control??!

Question: Okay, last month I started my first pack of birth control pills. My period started on a Sunday so that is the day I started taking my white (active) pills. Today is the day I am supposed to take my first inactive pill and I am confused because I don't have my period and I think I am supposed to get it next week. What do I do? I was almost positive I was supposed to start that Sunday my period started and now I am really confused. And if I get my period next week which would be normal (since it has been about only 21 days since my last period), would I still take the white active pills since they are next? I am so confused. Did I really screw up my birth control or am I just really inexperienced? Please only nice answers I really appreciate it.

This first month of my pills, I bled all month. It was totally fun *rolls eyes*, just ask my BF. So a day before my period was going to start after that month, I stopped bleeding, and the next day I had my period. After that I was regular (thank god).

I'm a first day starter (I started on the first day of my period), and I don't get my period on the wednesday of my inactive pills. I get it about friday or saturday. It's normal. It's just the hormones have to wear off in your body before you get it.

It normally takes 2-3 months for your body to become accustomed to the hormones of the pill. During this time it is quite normal to experience period abnormalities. So what you are experiencing is quite normal and nothing to be concerned about. if however by the 3rd month your cycles aren't regular, you will need to see your doctor as in this case it's possible that a hormonal imbalance has developed. In this case your doctor would check your levels via blood test, and possibly change your dosage.

Just keep taking them normally and your period will get on track. It is just getting use to you being on the pills I was like that at first.

Birth control regulates your periods. But it's not instant. Give it time. Take your pills every day like your supposed to and don't worry just yet about when the period comes. In another month or 2 then you'll be able to predict the exact day you'll get your period.

You won't start until about the 3rd or 4th day of the inactive pills. Yes you will start taking the white pills as normal and they will start to make your period go away. Your period may be shorter than you are used to..which is normal on birth control pills.

Just keep taking the pills in order as they come, your body might still be getting used to them, and your period will soon come once it has gotten used to the pill.

Now that you're on the pill, it doesn't matter what your periods were like beforehand. You are controlling your hormone levels and you will not ovulate (that's what the pill does, if it's working correctly). When you start the inactive pills, your hormone levels will drop and you will have a period. It usually takes a couple days for that to happen. This won't be like your usual periods.....you will develop an artificial rhythm, which you'll understand better after you've been on a couple cycles.

Just keep taking the pills as directed, regularly. Don't skip any, don't think something is wrong. Your periods may be very light...that's how it is with many of the pills these days. Be patient and give yourself time to get used to this new cycle. Some docs suggest you use alternate birth control the first month on the pill, but after that everything should be working just fine.

Your period doesn't automatically start the first day of your inactive pills. I'm on Tri Sprintec, start each new week on a Sunday, and my period starts on the Tuesday or Wednesday of the inactive week. Always ALWAYS take your pills every day. Don't ever skip a pill, even an inactive pill.

It can take a day or two after you get to your inactive pills before your period starts. My period comes 4 days after I remove my NuvaRing (which is the same as being on the inactive pills). Continue taking your inactive pills just as you're supposed to, and when you get to the end of those, start your new pack, whether you're on your period or not. It'll definately take a few months for your body to get used to it. You won't get your period based on your previous cycle because you have introduced hormones that are going to control it instead. Your first month your body may try to stick to its old cycle, but once you regulate, it'll follow what the pills cause it to do.

All the answers are correct,but......don't forget that even while on the pill you can contract std's and get pregnant.

Pills are only 99% effective IF taken properly. That means 1 in 100 women can still get pregnant.

Use a back-up system at all times!

My married responsible daughter is 1/100 and having a baby in 3 months and my sister-in law just had twins last year.
