  • You need to drink at LEAST 64 oz of water a day. Limit your consumption of dairy products. Eat plenty of dark green vegetables and last of all you can buy a variety of different mix in fiber powders for drinks and foods.

I had the same problem when I was pregnant. I drank a good deal of Apple juice and that would take care of the constipation. As far as being windy, that just comes with being pregnant and there's not much you can do for that! Good Luck and congrats!

Take stool softeners, NOT laxatives. Laxative can be dangerous to your baby. I had that problem after I had my daughter and they helped.

I agree with Rachybub. Anal, natures laxative.

when i was pregnant my doctor told me to take Colace or Peri-Colace. It's very mild.

Eat more fiber, drink more water. Otherwise call your doctor and ask if you can take a stool softener like Colace.

try getting a ton of fiber via a powdered supplement. you can mix it in with soups, milk, oj, make smoothies with it...mix it in your oatmeal...ect...ect. a good one is called glucomannan and while its sort of difficult to find it won't give you any side effects that some fiber supplements do such as gas, bloating, although being pregnant already has such side effects. i usually find it on amazon.com for the best price. it is well worth it and try to mix it into every single meal/snack you eat for best results it should make you more regular in a matter of days. hope this helps:)

Go to the bathroom and stop eating at Taco Bell...

Drink alot of water ,eat fruits and celery will help alot as it is fiber and will get rid of waist

Changes in your hormones can cause constipation. This can also happen if you get your period.

Try to avoid laxatives if you can. I don't suggest you take them often (only if you are severely constipated and nothing else works). Use them as a last resort because if you take laxatives too often, your colon will get used to them and eventually become "lazy" and will always rely on them.

I suggest you just eat lots of foods that are high in fiber to relieve and prevent constipation. The usual recommendation for the average person is about 25-35 grams of fiber per day. If that doesn't work for you, you may need more than that but each body is different. If you're not sure how much fiber there is in a food, read the nutrition facts. If a food (such as fresh fruits and veggies) doesn't have a label, you can probably find this info online. To know whether or not if a food is a good source of fiber (or other nutrient), read the % daily value as a comparison tool. If it's at least 10% of the daily value, it is considered a significant source. If it contains 20% or more, it is considered a lot. I'm not 100% sure (as I don't have the label in front of me) but I think the 100% whole grain bread at Costco (Kirkland Signature bran) contains 5 grams of dietary fiber per serving, so that's 20% of the daily value. By the way, I highly recommend that bread. That's what I eat often because it has so much fiber in it. You'll become regular in no time!

Good sources of fiber (both soluble and insoluble) include a large variety (all colors of the rainbow, leafy, non leafy, berries, etc) of fresh fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains (100% whole grain bread, whole grain pasta, brown rice, All Bran cereal, popcorn, oatmeal, Fiber One Cereal, Kashi Cereal, etc.). For fruit, pears have a higher amount of fiber (lots in the skin especially) than many other fruits. You should be eating all of those things but personally, I noticed the whole grain bread and oatmeal work best for me. Fiber does multiple things for preventing and relieving constipation (also reduces cholestrol but that's another topic). Your digestive system uses Paristalsis, which are wave-like muscle movements to get your food down your esophagus and into your stomach, the chyme to enter your small intestines, and into your colon. So, that is basically like an exercise routine for your digestive system (especially your colon) to keep it "fit." So, this kinda sounds gross but paristalsis will basically squeeze on your fecal matter to soften it when you eat fiber because fiber doesn't digest and so your digestive system has to work harder to get it through your body. Plus, your colon naturally absorbs excess fluids. When it has absorbed too much fluid, that can result in constipation. Fiber helps retain moisture in your stool to prevent over absorption.

You should also be drinking lots of fluids (preferably water) throughout the day to also help the fluid retention as well as to help the fiber get through your system. In severe cases, if you eat tons of fiber but don't drink enough fluids, the fiber can actually get stuck in your body and sometimes doctors have to do emergency surgery to unblock it. Water is that important!

Exercise also helps for constipation, so get out there and try to exercise regularly. It is ok to exercise if you're pregnant, especially if you were already exercising regularly before you became pregnant. If you're not sure what types of exercises to do, you might want to check with your doctor but of course walking won't hurt. Swimming is good exercise for pregnant women as well.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add- when you feel the urge to go to the bathroom, make sure you go IMMEDIATELY. Do not wait because if you do, it can make you more constipated! Also, if the recommended amount of fiber is giving you gas, it's probably because you're not used to it. In that case, you can just reduce the amount of fiber you eat and gradually work your way up until you get used to it (stop getting gas).

One more thing- it's best if you get the majority of your fiber from whole foods (the unprocessed foods i've mentioned above). The whole foods will provide you with plenty of nutrients you and your baby need for optimal health. Don't rely on a fiber supplement (such as Metamucil, Citrucel, and benefiber). You should only use a supplement if you really feel you need it after you've eaten those high fiber foods. If you choose a fiber supplement, it's better to go with the powdered form instead of the capsule. If you choose the capsule, you need to drink extra fluids.

Just a tangent -- Juicy_jess08 suggested fizzy drinks, but that would NOT be good a that would make the wind even worse.

I haven't been pregnant myself, but I've heard that this kind of thing is common when you're pregnant; your doctor can probably suggest some things.

    have bum sex

Id suggest drinking some fizzy drinks that normaly helps the windy pains....

    Laxatives?
