Question: this is an embarrassing question, but please answer seriously.
i have a gyn appointment in about a month, and I'm 15 years old. I was wondering if it would seem strange if I shaved down there? thanks, im so embarrassed but i dont want my doctor/parents to get the wrong idea.

If you shave normally or have shaved before than go for it, if you haven't, then don't. Shaving does make things easier but it wouldn't be a good idea to try it for the first time right before a gyn appt. They've seen it every which way so it's not going to matter to them.

If you have a month till you go, now wouldn't be a bad time to experiment with shaving if you haven't already.

A trick to preventing razor bumps is to rub the area with ice immediately after, that closes up all the pore and makes the skin tighten up so oil can't get down in the open follicles. Also shave with the grain of the hair. Your skin just gets use to it over time too.
You don't necessarily have to shave the whole thing, just the "undercarriage"(around the lips and butt) is what's important. Totally shaved is very, very nice though :) and no there's nothing wrong with shaving at 15, most girls this day in age do shave to one degree or another, heck I'm a guy and even I shave my balls and butt crack(prevents klingons). Having a bush is so 1979.

when i was your age, i shaved because i was more comfortable having less hair in that area. your parents don't really need to have an opinion on what you're doing with your pubic hair, and the doctor will more than likely think nothing of it. do what you want.

It's your own preference really. A doctor is not looking at you judging they are doing there job. It what you feel more comfortable with. Also the doctor is not going to tell your parents "oh she shaved her chocha" so what ever you feel is fine.

I always shave before my gyn. appt.

i go to the doctor shaved, it is more hygenic. and the doctor can make better examiantoin withouthair, shave 3 days before goign to the exam so that pimples will go away

When I was 30 I went to my pap smear appt and I had trimmed and the doctor was rude enough to start laughing. I looked at him and asked him why in this day and age (and this was 8 years ago) he found anything odd about hygiene habits and the pubic area. He apologized and I fired him but the others have been very businesslike about it. I promise most of them see women's pubic areas so much that one looks like another after awhile. No many women shave "down there" for hygiene purposes. If the doc says anything it will most likely be please be careful while shaving because an infection in a cut there will be a bear to clear up. Don't worry about it. The doc is there to do a job and not look at the scenery. And the doc is bound by patient and doctor confidentiality. She cant tell your parents.

nothing wrong with shaving. bikini zone is a lifesaver when you first start shaving
