First of all, I suspect that you mean the earliest time after a missed period in which bHCG should become detectable, right? :)

Different pregnancy test kits have different sensitivities, and quite honestly, some are just better than others. But in generally, you should be able to log a "positive" test if you're pregnant 2-3 weeks after your missed period. In most cases, this means that your bHCG level has gone beyond 25 mIU/ml for a serum test.

While we're on that subject, I did say a serum test.... that means a blood test, and they're generally sensitive a little more quickly than the urine tests. If you are using a urine test, you absolutely should test your very first morning sample, as that will be the most concentrated.

In addition to a simply positive or negative test, your physician could also order what they call a quantitative test, which will show exactly how much bHCG you have in your bloodstream.

I just went to a dollar store and got a test from there and found out when I was pregnant. It showed up pretty much a week after my missed period.

Be sure to take the test first thing in the morning. Your urine is less diluted then and you will get a more accurate result. Also, try to get a test that detects a lower hcg level. If it's still negative, and you still don't have your period, call your doctor. There may be something else going on. It may be something as simple as stress, diet change, medication, or exercise. Your doctor will likely do a blood test just to be sure. They can tell if you are pregnant earlier. Make sure you let them know that the home tests were negative though, because a urine test at the doctors office will likely show negative. It is possible you got pregnant late in your cycle, and it was enough to stop your period, but your hcg level isn't quite high enough yet. Good luck!

Im in the same boat as you, ive taken 3 home tests and a blood test and all came back negative, im 3 weeks late and still have not started and im sooo worried that I still could be pregnant and that my hormone level is not high enough to show on a test yet. I would try getting a blood test and see what that says, if you havent started in a week or two go to your gyno! Good luck sweetie

Everybodys body is different and sometimes horomones dont show generally on a hpt until u miss your period or shortly thereafter. On a blood test however, they can show up 10 days after conception...
