What causes large stool (length and width)?!

Question: This is a gross question ... I know. But it's life and we all do it. I have always had extra-large stool. What could be the cause of this? It is sometimes very hard to go the bathroom due to the pain. I also get constipated sometimes. I would say the length is anywhere from 6-7 inches and 2-3 inches.

Having a long stool is actually very healthy. Your bowel movements should come out in one large piece, not pebbles, or without form at all. It's the width that's uncomfortable.
Try eating more fiber. This really does help...eat alot of whole grains, (like whole grain bread instead of white, oatmeal, popcorn, wheat). Also eat fresh fruit, and vegetables, and increase the amount of water you drink. If you're still having a problem, take a stool softener daily (not a laxative). Stool softeners will make it more comfortable for you to go, (they do not stimulate you to go) and you will not become dependant on them.

Gross in deed but yep we all do it. I think that you arent going enough. You should take a fiber tablet to help you go regularly. I think going more often will help with these issues.

That is good (large stools) it means your intestines are not congested with plaque and other toxins.
For the constipation drink plenty of water and eat more fruit and fiber

You don't want to become dependent on laxatives if taken on a regular bases that is not good

It's could be blockage in the body system. If I were check your doctor. They may want you have a stool sample and see what's going on with your stools.

Take Metamucil every day.http://www.metamucil.com/

maybe you just have a larger colon. try eatin lots of fruits and other foods with lots of fibre, drink lots of fluids too to reduce constipation.

i pooped out the number 7 the other day.... it was a shame to have to flush that one away.

I think that fibre causes it to be bulky and if it's hard and painful therefore to "pass", then maybe you don't have enough water in your diet.

Eat more fiber! Take a stool softener every now and then too. I birthed a monster the other day, I mean, it absolutely killed me, but I was so proud when I looked at it. I wish I had a camera.
