Are there any risks of taking the shot of birth-control?!

Question: If so, what are they? And is it REALLY effective?

Answers: If so, what are they? And is it REALLY effective?

It's one of the most effective forms (less than 1% failure rate if the shots are all administered on time), but it causes bone density loss. It can also cause weight gain, mood changes, lower libido, and irregular bleeding. Because of the bone density side effect, it's not supposed to be used for more than two years unless other forms of birth control are inadequate.

Another very effective form of reversible birth control is the IUD. After you get it inserted, and all you have to remember is to check once a month to make sure it's still there. See the Planned Parenthood website for a list of other options.

high cholesterol, and gaining weight.

MANY MANY risks.

read that, and google "depo provera lawsuit".

And, depo provera is ONLY 99% effective. Women have AND DO get pregnant while on the shot, even when taken as directed.

I was on it for several horrible years. PLEASE choose another method.
