I've done research on this product. I actually just got my third shot 3 days ago. It's a great option in the way that you are protected without remembering to take pills. It has affected me in negative ways though. I have had continous spotting for 6 months. This would be terrible if you were having sex with someone who wasn't understanding liek my boyfriend. I have also lost weight, but most people I know have gained. So the only downside so far is the constant spotting.. but that's supposed to stop within the first 9 months. So all I'm doing is waiting. But I'd really liek to try the pill instead. I also heard that if you do get pregnant, the depo can cause serious damage to the fetus. It caused me to miscarry. It's also somewhat of a problem to be able to carry a fetus successfully after you're off the shot.
My cousin did and she gained weight. She said it messed up her cycle. Thank twice the nuva -ring is awsome I tried it and my periods were lighter and only lasted 2-3 days.
I do and I love it. My only side effect is a lower sex drive - kind of sucks.
On the pill I had been having periods of up to 6 weeks (really light but a huge pain in the ***). Depo has taken that away.
I am on it and have been for a year. I like it at first i gained a little weight but it wasnt much. I dont have to worry about taking a pill everyday and i have smaller periods. works for me!

you really dont wamt to use the depo shot my sister used that and gained alot of weight offf of it. if ki was you i wouldnt get that shot
I used it for three years and never had any side effects. The greatest part was not having a period after about the 2nd shot(1st shot you will spot a lot). I sure do miss the whole no periods thing. It only took 3 months for my period to return once I stopped, unfortunaty it was a painful one but they are good now.
I was on it for 11 years! Now they found out that it depletes your bone density and you should only stay on it for 2 years. It took about 3 shots before my period went away and then i didn't have for the rest of the time. (That's why I stayed on it so long!!) The first few years were fine although I did suffer with depression. I didn't have painful intercourse until the last 3 years and didn't realize it was because of the shot. I would recommend just staying off of it. There are so many side effects and horror stories. Not worth it if you can only stay on for 2 years!
