Question about my new birth control...?!

Question: I have never taken birth control until my doctor put me on it a week ago and I must say that I am very hormonal! I have been so depressed this week and I feel... guilty.. for some reason. I'm not sure why but I feel like I had done things that I have not! I take offense to everything that everyone says and I just want to lay in bed and cry. How long will it take my body to get use to the medication and should I stop taking it right now or just wait it out? Girls- Have you ever been through this?!

Meygan. Why didn't you listen to me? I told you already. Give it 2 weeks to a month. If you just keep jumping from one to another, you'll never find one that your body can get comfortable with. You know I'm right, dirty bird.

BC pills are hormones. They "trick" your body into thinking it could already be pregnant by changing the hormone balance. Usually things will level out in 3-5 days, if you still have these kind of mood fluctuations I would speak with your ob/gyn and maybe request one of the new lo dose options..I went through this along time ago, and when they changed me to lo-ovral, it got better. There is a study done by Brown University on the web that is extremely helpful, and I pasted the link below.
Hope this helps!!!

This is what it said about mood swings
Mood changes
Some women may notice changes in their emotional status: depressed mood or emotional instability. If you have a history of depression, it is important to monitor your progress carefully when starting BCPs. If you notice changes in your mood after beginning BCPs, call your provider.
