The Pill: Yas?!

Question: I am currently taking Yaz birth control, which I take everyday at 9 pm. This is my first cycle, and I'm a forgetful person as it is, so I sometimes forget to take my pill at the same time. I haven't missed a day or anything, but I end up taking it between 9 and 11 pm everyday.

My question is, is it a problem that there is a two-hour time period in which I take my pill? Will it have an impact on the effectiveness of it?

Being that I give this to many of my patients my answer is no.

Keeping in mind that you are only late by a couple of hours. Depending on your dosage strength being late by a day could mean the difference of starting your period the day you forgot to take the pill and just having some bloating issues.

If you wear a watch set an alarm to go off at 9pm so that you remember to take it consistantly.

ask doc

No. Its suggested that you take it at the same time every day, but its not a big deal. They don't mean the difference between 8am and 8:30am, they mean morning, noon, afternoon, evening, etc. Don't worry, you're cool.

My doctor told me that it isn't anything to worry about because I had the same problem too. That's why I just choose to go on the Nuva Ring. One ring for three weeks then a ring-free week on the 4th. It's way easier and more convenient as well. But do whatever it is you think you would be more comfortable about.

I'm on Yasmin; a stronger dose of Yaz. I can honestly admit that I do the same thing. I am very forgetful and don't always take my pills at the same time everyday, but from my expeirence I haven't become pregnant. I think it's just if you miss your pills, but then again I am no doctor. I think you should ask your gyno about this. I do know that if you miss the first active pill in your pack that is the most likeliest time to get pregnant. (my gyno told me this). Best advice is to ask your doctor or read your packet that comes with your bc pills.
