How much weight do you gain when your on your period?!


Question: My mom says 10 pounds is normal, but this time when I gained it it seemed more like fat, I work out 5 times a week, so its not fat. Does this ever happen to anyone else?

Yes, it is possible, but not really average. All women are different, there's really no right answer other than is it normal for you? Personally, I gain about 5 pounds for about 4-5 days. Its not fat, its water retension in your blood. The bloating from the water is obvious in different places for different women, for me, its my waist. Are you a teenager? Sometimes in your later teens and early 20's, you develop more symptoms from your cycle than you had before....but I'd says your normal. You should talk to your doctor if it really bothers you.

I don't gain any weight..

a lot. then it all goes straight to ur *ss

i dont gain any wieght..if anything i lose wieght..well then again i only get my period like 2 times a month..and im 15 weird i know lol

none. i only gain weight if i eat a lot.

You dont gain weight when you are on your period...sometimes your stomach just feels a little bloated....but you dont gain weight...10 pounds is a huge gain weight to have every month for a week, doesnt make sense.

It's probably water weight. I usually gain at least 5lbs. I lose it right after my period. I wouldn't worry about it. :)

You should never gain more than about 2 or 3 lbs and thats just bloating/water weight, if you are gaining as much as 10 I would talk to a doctor

none! its normally just water weight. Unless you have been eating alot of junk then you have probly gained!!

Yes...I never weigh myself, but can tell by the way my clothes fit.

It's mostly water retention and extra lbs., from the extra calories I consume...the salty and chocolatey stuff during the PMS stage.

2 or 3 pounds is normal. not ten!
try eating better and drinking water, just working out isnt gonna do it :]

Ahhhh!!!!! Right now! I am having soo much trouble concentrating on my work because I feel so fat! I think I probably gain around 5lbs. I really want to go to the gym right now, but it is too late! :(

it depends on your body shape
but did you know that muscle is heavier than fat
and if your working out 5 times a week
maybe that might be why you weighing more
on top of the period pounds

If you gain ten lbs. then you're eating a helll of a lot of shiiit. There's no reason for a woman to gain that kind of weight during aunt Flo's visit. I'd say 3-4 lbs would be normal. Wow, man. That's crazy!!

I don't really gain weight. It's more like my skinny jeans don't fit right and my boobs seem bigger but then after everything is right ... maybe your just fat?

I don't gain weight on my period and I just get crampy and crabby, my poor husband. With you working out it's probably bloating or water gain.

It is normal to gain up to like 5 lbs or something, but it is mostly just water weight, unless you are eating alot of sweets or craving alot of food don't worry about it. You should lose it all by the time you stop your period.
