How far down does a ultrasound take place?!

Question: I might have to have an ultrasound to see if my ovaries are functioning properly and I don't want to feel uncomfortable. Anyone ever had one before? what takes place?

It depends on which ultrasound you are having.
Trans-abdominal ultrasound. A small handheld device called a transducer is passed back and forth over the lower belly. Trans-vaginal ultrasound. The transducer is shaped to fit into a woman's vagina. A woman may have both trans-abdominal and trans-vaginal ultrasounds to look at the whole pelvic area.

I have had both one you just pull the front of your pants down and it pretty simple. The other is done vaginally and isn't bad but you remove your pants and have your feet up in the stirrups just like getting a pap smear.

I haven't had one on my ovaries, but I did on my breast (they use that for younger women when we find a lump.) But, it's pretty much like what you see in the movies with pregnant women. They put the gel on you and run the hand piece over the area they are checking so they can "see" inside your body. For your ovaries, they will be checking your lower abdomen area to the lower left and right of your belly button. Good luck!

You will just have to unbutton your pants and tuck them down a bit, it doesn't feel weird at all. The jelly they use is warmed usually and it is done by a professional that has seen everything. You just lie on the bed and they move the wand over your belly that's about it.
