I try to always wear pants that have pockets or carry a jacket with pockets. That way I not only have a place to stash a couple of tampons, but also my cell phone, drivers license, cash, and some chap stick or lipstick.

Well I don't go without a bag if I'm gonna be gone for a long time. But you could get Tampax compact and they might in your pocket. You can leave a tampon in for 5 hours or you could wear an overnight pad so you don't leak.
In your pockets? I don't know...
