Each woman has a different reaction to birth control. The ones that were supposed to help with your skin would give me more pimples than I had ever had in my life. So, you would just need to talk with your doctor and see what he/she would recommend.

Good luck. =)

If by "serious side effects", you mean the risk of heart attack, blood clots, and stroke, then there are none. All forms of hormonal birth control come with some degree of that risk. Low dose pills may have a slightly lower risk, but it's still there.

If you want to prevent pregnancy without the risks of hormonal birth control, you could look into one of these options: condoms, diaphragms, copper IUDs, and sponges (I know there are others, but those are the most common).

I dont know of any, but I have heard that the side effects can be reduced signficantly if you DO NOT smoke. Smoking is supposed to be a big contributor to blood clots occuring in women on the pill, although I think the occurences of blood clots are still really really small... My wife had a blood clot and she was on the pill. But still, its a great choice for birth control because she may have been one in a million to get a blood clot.

The best thing you can do is talk with your doctor that is prescribing the pills and tell him/her what your specific concern is in an honest and open fashion. The doctor should be able to point you away from pills that you might have a problem with based on your health or body type.

Here is a website that has lots of info about the pill and its side effects:

All medications have side effects, its just whether or not you are prone to having them affect you. Your gp would be the better erson to advise you if you have experienced any side effects.

It all depends on the woman. I take Kariva. It not only great but I get no PMS. No headaches, bad mood, etc...

I took about 5 different types of b.c.p's to get to this one. So find out what's right for you.

Good Luck!

Hmm, i agree with what other posters have said - there is a risk of dvt with all pills, which I'm assuming might be worse if you're in a wheelchair? Why not try a coil - I believe they don't have this risk associated - although I know some women get bad pelvic problems (although they can always get it taken out). I'd go and discuss it with your dr - they would know more about your particular risks.
Other than that I would say that I think Cerazette - the newest mini-pill is the best for women who want the pill but are worried about dvts (my mum had 2 at 20 so I'm constantly on the watch out for them), Minipills are generally better in terms of dvt risk. Plus you can always watch out for symptoms - take a small dose of aspirin every day, or stop taking it if your dr gets worried at your regular check ups.
Anyway - good luck with finding something to suit you. Peacex

id go with the mini pill, cos give less side effects, slight mood swings but u get them anyway, ask ure doctor about it,u try and find one that suits u

get a coil instead no side effects
