from wikipedia:
Mittelschmerz (German: "middle pain") is a medical term for "ovulation pain" or "midcycle pain". About 20% of women experience mittelschmerz, some every cycle, some intermittently.

Mittelschmerz is characterized by lower abdominal and pelvic pain that occurs roughly midway through a woman's menstrual cycle. The pain can appear suddenly and usually subsides within hours, although it may sometimes last two or three days.[1] In some women, the mittelschmerz is localized enough so that they can tell which of their two ovaries provided the egg in a given month. Because ovulation occurs on a random ovary each cycle, the pain may switch sides or stay on the same side from one cycle to another.

Diagnosis of mittelschmerz is generally made if a woman is mid-cycle and a pelvic examination shows no abnormalities. If the pain is prolonged and/or severe, other diagnostic procedures such as an abdominal ultrasound may be performed to rule out other causes of abdominal pain.

The pain of mittelschmerz is sometimes mistaken for appendicitis and is one of the differential diagnoses for appendicitis in women of child-bearing age.

If the pain is more on one side or the other and you have no other symtoms like fever, I would assume it's just ovulation. I often have this and it only lasts a few hours for me.

Best wishes in trying for that baby!

I have PCOS as well, it stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. I've been diagnosed last year. What your doctor might recommend to you is that you go on Birth Control pills, like mine suggested to me. When you're ready to have a kid then you get off and everything should be fine.

I am not a doctor, but I have been experiencing ovarian cysts for almost 25 years. It is not uncommon for you to feel pain when ovulating. I do not have pcos I just produce a large cyst on my ovaries every 6 weeks. It alternates from left to right and some months I feel very sharp pains around mid cycle. I have been taking birth control pills to alleviate this but it still happens.
If you feel pain so sharp that makes you black out or if you vomit from the pain, go to a urgent care facility.
Medical Science is great, but there are some things they cannot explain and you need to keep a good relationship with your ob/gyn and relax.
