Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?!

Question: I just found out that I have Polyscystic Ovary Syndrome. My mother and Grandmother both had it as well, but I'm just really worried about it and I wanted to hear from other women who have it...How did you treat it? How long did it take for you to get your menstrual cycle back on track? Were you still able to get pregnant normally? The pregnancy issue is my main concern...my dream for my whole life has been to have children and now I am just so worried that it will never happen...I know that my Grandmother had 3 children with no problems and my mom had me but I know that it is common to have trouble conceiving when you have PCOS so basically I am just looking for some encouragement from others who have experience with this disease. Thanks!

I have PCOS and my doctor treated me with the pill as well as a medication called Aldactone which is designed to help control the testosterone levels by lowering them.

When I went on this regimen it took about 2 or 3 months for my period to get back in to swing of things although at the time I started having symptoms of PCOS in relation to my period being irregular it was just starting.

One lady I know took Glucophage (because she also had Insulin Resistance which can occur for some women with PCOS) which helped regulat her periods in addition to dietary changes and she was able to get pregnant. The little girl is now about 5 years old.

Another lady I know did just Clomid and was able to get pregnant within a short time. She had a set of twins who are now about 2 or 3 years old.

I also have the link to a site that may help you find even more information (there are messageboards on the site too). The link is at: http://www.pcosupport.org
