I'm 46 and NEVER thought I'd be asking this question.............?!

Question: but could I be pregnant? Hubby had a vasectomy 4 years ago. I'm never 'late', and now I'm 2 weeks late! Breasts are sore, and I've got some really strange cramping going on (different somehow than period cramping).

The onset of menopause perhaps? Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh Yes!! welcome to the Meno group... it will be a pain in the a** for the next 4 years or so but we all get through it if you can just laugh at the fact.... I had a year of swollen breasts before everything settle down... your periods will be all over the place. Just make sure you hubby understand what he is going to have to deal with in the next few years...

it is so much fun!!!

well i have never experienced exactly that but people can get pregnant after vasectomy. just take a pregnancy test

If he had a full vasectomy there is no chance of him getting u pregnant. U must of been barking up the wrong tree, sleeping around maybe?

It could be both but my sister in law had another baby post husbands vasectomy - Surprise!

yeah you should get tested

I've experienced this - frequently. I am in perimenopause and this type of thing is very common. (Called phantom periods)
I'd get evaluated though. (BTW - I just turned 48)

Did he have a sperm count done after the vasectomy... if not there is a possibility

I am almost 46 as well, and can tell you there are alot of strange things that have started happening with my body; I'll spare you the details. Hormone fluctuations can cause breast tenderness and they say that your peiods can become sporadic as you enter "peri-menopause" which is actually your body trying to adjust to leaving the "child-bearing" years. My husband had a vasectomy after our 2nd child, we went through the fun tests and got our all clear...
Our son was born less than a year later...dr. said one side had grown back together...better go see your doctor because if you are not pregnant abd these things are really bothersome, you could get some good suggestions. Personally, I am trying to get through it all natural and avoid any kind of hormone replacement therapy...I just believe that body was made to do this stuff, it can take care of itself and I just have to deal with it?
Any "night-sweats" or hot-flashes during the day?

It doesn't have to be full on menopause. There is also something called something like Peri-menopause.

But your cycle can change a lot when you get into your forties. You can go from being very regular and light to very irregular and sometime VERY heavy and other times skip a month or two.

BUT - it is possible for a vasectomy to be incomplete or fail - so if you had sex - especially a couple weeks before you were due - you might want t take a test.

Also - if you are having unusual pain, you probably should check with your doctor.

(I was experiencing what I thought were night sweats and was concerned it was menopause - even though I wasn't even 40 and it turned out I was having some kind of problem with the comforter I was sleeping under. Like it didn't breathe.)

Odds are you are not pregnant. Check the other possibilities first.

It sounds like you are starting perimenopause. Breast soreness can be a sign of it, and so can muscle tension. (Maybe that's what is causing those pains? It could also be fluctuating hormone levels affecting your muscles in weird ways.)

You can get your husband's ejaculate re-tested, if you need the peace of mind, but you're probably not pregnant.

Good luck to you.
