Limitations on birth control????!

Question: I know this probably going to sound stupid but are there any limitations when you go on birth control? Like is it ok for a guy to *** without any other protection? My boyfriend doesn't really like wearing a condom and he thinks it will feel better for him without it. I heard that some birth control pills that make you stop your period are really dangerous...what is the most effective brand that is not dangerous and I can rely on? Oh and I heard that you can get the first 4 months of birth control free...is that true?

There are instances where birth control can be dangerous. It can lead to a higher risk of blood clots, which is drastically increased if you are a smoker or over 35 years old. They can also have the side effects of migraines and depression, so if you have a history of either you have to be careful. The pill doesn't protect against STDs, so before you start having sex without a condom (if you decide to) you and your boyfriend both need a complete STD test (blood test) to make sure there is nothing to worry about. The pill is also not 100% effective against pregnancy, so you need to consider that. It is a good idea to use a back-up method of birth control. Condoms and spermicide are good choices for back-up. You can use spermicide without a condom, as long as you're certain about there being no STDs. As for getting it free, if you go to a regular gyno, they'll often give you some free samples (my doctor gave me 5 months free of the NuvaRing, and said if I needed more free to just call). Planned Parenthood can often provide birth control for minimal or no cost, depending on your financial need. Your doctor is going to decide which pill is most effective and safest for you. Make sure you tell your doctor if you smoke, have a family history of blood clots, and any other medical history your doctor asks. Leaving anything out can result in your doctor prescribing something that isn't safe for you.

Your boyfriend's a dick.

no birth control is 100% you can still get preggo, it happened to a friend of mine. however, as long as you don't miss a pill, it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 98% effective against pregnancy but 0% against STD. I say let him *** on you instead of inside you. that is hot.

go to the health department for free birth control and no its not safe to not use condoms

I would still use birth control and other forms of protection if you dont want to get preg. Do what you feel is right. Maybe you should talk to a doctor. I've never heard of birth control being free.

i am on birth control and yeah, he can *** inside you without protection, but you have to wait like a week or so for it to kick in. and if you want it for free, go to the planned parenthood and they give you birth control and free condoms, it's really awesome. the only thing they ask you is if you want to donate, so i felt bad and gave them $20. as for your period, you can predict exactly when it happens and it is about half as short and much lighter as before.

All birth control pills are 99% effective BUT if you miss one pill then you are at risk....even if you are late taking one you can be at risk so be careful if you aren't using other protection. I use Ortho Tricylcen Lo. I don't know if you can get the first 4 months free but if you go to the health unit they will give you a whole year free...every year.

Most pills don't stop your period unless you purposely skip the placebo pills. (The ones without hormones that make you have your period.)

As long as you remember to take your pill every day at about the same time every day (and you wait a month after starting your first pack) no other means of contraception are needed to prevent pregnancy. (Insert condom lecture for STDs here.)

As far as price, if you go to your local health department, you may be able to get the pill for free. (This usually only involves a simpl pelvic exam. The one in my area doesn't notify parents either if you're worried about that.)

Hope that helps.

What ever method you use, the man needs to wear a condom
to protect against STD'S
You can get free birth control thourgh Planned Parenthood
only place I have ever know of.
they go by how much you make, a sliding scale
the Depo-Provers Injections are every 3 months so 4 times a year
That is what i use
but no birth control except for a condom will protect from the many different sexually transmittted diseases.
THe depo injections after a few months you will have only spotting
where a panti-liners are the only thing you have to buy
which i like, have the same box of tampons in the bathroom since July lol

first of all not wearing a condom and you being on birth control can prevent pregnancy...
BUT IT WILL NOT PROTECT against HIV STD or AIDS...
so you are taking a risk right there already in terms of your life...
condoms are the closest thing that can protect you from those deadly diseases...you should search on Hiv/sds and aids to get more information about that.
so make sure you and your honey get tested before doing it without a condom.
now on the other hand
the birth control that requires a shot intake by your doctors stops your period completely...which can be a bit dangerous. but not really..
when taking birth control pills your period doesn't stop but you can not smoke while on them because you can get like little tumors or something like that.
if you go to the clinic you can try to qualify on getting free birth control pills as part of a family plan...well here in texas some clinics have that program for girls who can't really afford birth control and don't want to get pregnant..
so you should look into that also....and see if they have that in your area
every medicine has its risks...you just got to pick the one that is best for you...which is why you should talk to a doctor
hopefully i answered your questions well..
i am no expert but thats my knowledge of them...but remember to always double check on the information on a reliable internet source or talk to a doctor about that k.
good luck

my boyfriend really strongly dislikes condoms... but the trojan ones that say thinnest condom ever! he will actually agree to use.

it's reall yimportant that before you do get on a birth control, you understand you very unique cycle and when you are fertile, to be very careful. read this book, Taking Charge of your fertility... I go the first half of the cycle wearing condoms, and avoid sexual intercourse when i'm ovulating and just after, then after about 4 days past my thermal temperature shift and all my cervical fluid is gone, we have condomless risk free (well risk from pregnancy) sex. it's a compromise, since i will absolutely not contaminate myself with synthetic hormones, and trick my body into thinking i'm constantly pregnant.
i wish i would have known about this book befor ei got pregnant for the first time, i was young and my boyfriend didn't like condoms, so we would put them on half way into sex or pull out. maybe it would have been ok if i had been charting and observing my temp, cervical fluids, cervix changes etc... it's easy and empowering, like tying your shoes. get with the picture, inform yourself and take control of your body. it's YOUR body!!! and you have the right to know all the information you can about it, and the correct info too. if your boyfriend does not support you in your empowerment, i say dump him. there will be many other things he will not support you in either, and especially not enough in pregnancy. you will need A TON of support, lots, that he may just not be ready to sacrifice. <3 good luck!
