Question: the full kind(every reproductive organ).

Sorry someone very close to me is getting one and I'm extremely nervous and scared. PLEASE be nice!

there are no promises when it comes to surgery... I had one when I was 24 in 1994 do to endometriosis and it was pretty basic... No major cutting or anything "vaginal"... I'm so glad I did it. I have a friend that had one 2 years ago and she was cut wide open and ended up with a very bad infection that has caused many other problems.. My mom had one very young because of my reasons and never had a problem... In very few cases the person may do very badly but most possibly due to hospital or staff.... my friends infection was due to hospital then they waited 2 months before they opened her up to get the infection out then they left her open for way to long.

Try to be there for your friend or have someone with her 24/7 until she goes home. Then she should be fine...

The risk rate for the surgery depends on how it is being done, that is if it's done as an abdominal surgery or vaginally. Actually, the majority of the risk with most surgery has to do with the anesthetic, not the procedure itself. And if the person having it done was not a good risk for the surgery, no one would suggest doing it. That they are doing the surgery at all speaks for itself. There is a certain level of risk with any procedure, but you have to balance that against the expected gain. Chances are this person will do just fine in surgery and you will be able to relax some. My grandmother had a total hysterectomy done at the age of 86, and did just fine. So okay, I won't have a new uncle or aunt, I think I can adapt. As surgeries go, hysterectomy is not that big a deal really. It's not quite in the same category as a quad bypass, or a transplant- it's more along the lines of an appendectomy. It's a lot more common to have nothing happen than to have something happen. So just relax a bit and have some faith that it will all go just fine.
