Question: This is going to sound very naive but I was wondering what exactly do gynaecologists deal with, I know they deal with irregular periods. Can they deal with virginal operations of sort or refer me to a doctor? What my problem is that I have an outy (flaps are out rather than tucked in) which brings me down so much, I have huge insecurities about it. And does anybody know how much this will cost?

Gyencologists can diagnose and treat vaginal infections such as a yeast infection, diagnose hormone problems such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and in some cases thyroid issues (examples of problems that can cause irregular periods). They can also do surgical procedures such as to diagnose problems like endometriosis. They can also do surgical procedures to the vulva such as removal of excess skin from the labia minora (the set of lips that surrounds the vaginal opening) if that excess skin is causing physical pain (I've had this kind of surgery done and had problems with it).
As for the cost it can vary from State to State as well as vary from surgeon to surgeon, and also chances are insurance may not cover the cost because it would be classified as a cosmetic procedure.
