Anyone know how long it takes to get results of a mammogram?!

Question: been 2 weeks and a day now!

Answers: been 2 weeks and a day now!

In the US, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) requires any mammographic facility send a letter to each patient who has had a mammogram within 30 days. The letter is in layman's terms and either says your mammogram appears normal or you need additional imaging studies (extra mammographic views or ultrasound, for example). Our facility mails those letters out within 3-4 days of your mammogram.

Every mammographic facility I have worked for sends a written radiologist report to the referring doctor within 48 hours maximum. So, your doctor has probably had the results for awhile, and has not contacted you. Some referring doctors will send you a postcard with your results, some will call you regardless of the mammographic findings, and some will only call you if their is something abnormal found on the mammogram. If you are worried, call your referring doctor and ask for your results. Mammographic facilities will not report any findings over the phone to the patient.

UK takes up between 4-6 weeks pathetic really when the results are so important

US - I was scheduled to visit with a surgeon about a week after my mammo and he had the results then. You know they say, no news is good news, but if you're concerned call your doctor and ask them.
