EXTREMELY severe MENSTRUATION PAIN?!

Question: so everytime i get my period, i get very extreme pain, it makes me want to curl up in a ball and just die, i even begin to think that the hospitals cant even help me with the pain. i know the pain is coming from my uterus, especially where i think my ovary is (sometimes on oneside, next time on the other) it is also accompained by DIARRHEA, NAUSEA, HOT FLASHES, AND BACKACHES AND DIZZINESS. the pain and other symptoms are usually there on the first day and for about 2 hours... i used midol..doesnt work, tried all those painrelievers but they dont do anything. iwould cry out in pain until i would fall asleep and then i would feel a little better.i spoke to my doctor and she told me that i should just begin to use birth control pills, but i dont want to because of the risk of blood clots. so i was wondering if there is anything else out there i can suggest to my doctor. i dont want to over dose on painreliever. PLEASE HELP.

First of all I dont know you personally and I am not a doctor however I used to experience very similar symptoms to you weeks before and during my period. The pain would be so severe and no matter which way I moved it was so intense. I would just pray it would end. I lived with this for many months and finally I went to my women's doctor (gynecologist) and she x-rayed me, did a complete ultrasound, even took my blood and found nothing unusal.

She said usually this type of extreme pain and symptoms can come from an ovarian cyst that can show up when you have your period (which is not a rare thing- alot of women get this), or the pain can come from a condition where the lining of your uterus sneaks out and enters your body (its called endometriosis)- both conditions are related to your menstral (period) cycle and can cause extreme discomfort.

Since nothing abnormal was found with me, she suggested that I take birth control. She explained the hormones should help regulate my system and help with all the crazy painfull and annyoying symptoms from my period. I started taking Yaz (a low dose hormone type of bith controll pill) last year and honestly I feel like a new woman. I still have cramps, but they only show up like a few days before my period and last a few days during it. I feel normal and healthy and dont feel like I am going to die when that "time of the month" comes along. Its weird that a little birth control pill helped, but it totally worked.

Again, although I dont know you personally I feel bad that you are experiencing this pain and just know there are ways to help you- try not to take too much tynenol because it can make your tummy ache- my doctor said to take Motrin as a pain reliever since it has an anti-inflammatory medicine in it (this will help your condition better than other pain relievers). Try to exercise- this has helped me too- working out has been studied to relieve period cramps and other women's issues.

Most important thing I hope you get from my posting- CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!! You are worth feeling 110% all month long. Do not take more than recommended on the painkiller label- it will only hurt you more. I also read that your fear of bloodclots is preventing you from taking birth control- all I have to say is that this is such an rare occurrence and you are hurting your body more by not finding a solution to your situation. Stress kills. And if your doctor can't help you go see a gynecologist- you owe it to yourself :)

im sooooo sry! tht must be terrible :(

you need to be loved

The only thing that helped me was going on birth control pills. I know it is scary, but it is totally worth it.

a hystirectamy!!

Sounds aweful.....I heard exercise regularly helps. Stay hydrated as well, with water/Gatorade/Powerade...whatever..

Ask your doctor for pain relief that is a step up from Ibuprofen. Also, you may have endometriosis. I had pain where I thought I was in labor. My doctor gave my vicodin for cramps. Defiantly go see a Gyno. Eat red meat and take vitamins made for young women.

Ok, for help heres a trick you may want to know. A week before your period start taking Ibuprofen. Take it 3-5 times a day 1-2 pills each time. Ibuprofen (and other meds) have to be in your system and circulating before they can be of use.

i get it worse too! that i cry cause the pain was just unbearable my grandma use to give me hot water bag but it seems not to help and ive tried pamprin but nothing i even past out twice in my life time because of this pain, midol doesn't work for me either and finally i took advil and i thought it was a miraclr drug but it helped me a lot and like the old folks saying when your close to having it instead of eating sour foods w/c we craved when where almost there instead eat sweets; i tried that too but i guess it just depends although it's not as bad when you have it.

You didn't mention your age, but with the extreme pain you're describing there is a good chance you may have a condition known as Endometriosis. Here's a site that will give you an overview:

http://www.endometriosis.org/endometri...

I strongly urge you to discuss your symptoms with either your family physician *or* your gynecologist. There is no simple "test" to determine the existence of Endometriosis. If your physician feels it's warranted, he/she will order a laparoscopy and take a biopsy of the tissue.

Do a little research and see your doctor asap.

Best of luck to you.

The risk of blood clots is very low when taking birth control pills. They have to warn you about every possible side effect, and that's one of them. I'm sure there are others, too, just like the pain relievers you've been using.

Honestly, overuse of pain medication is much more dangerous than the slim chance of a blood clot.

It sounds like cysts on you ovaries i have them every month on one side then the next.

I have the same thing....I just started birth control and it made it worse..the dr told me to take motrin but it doesnt work ... i feel u sister !!!!
