Look for a product called the Diva Cup. Sold in natural food stores and grocery stores that have a natural foods and products section. Sometimes you can even find them right next to tampons and pads in the regular grocery aisles. There are other brands that work well too and may be easier to find. They work great!!! Tried 'em myself. No problems at all. Good Luck!

And P.S. i don't agree with the answer that she doesn't really need anything. I don't care about inside the pool. What about when she gets out? Blood will run straight down her legs and i'm sure no-one wants to see that happen.

She can't swim unless she has a tamp in. Sorry!

Sorry but if it is swimming you have to wear a tampon. Tell her to try slim ones. : )

I think there is some sort of cup she can use, this should explain more
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menstrual_c...

But if she doesn't like to use tampons then I don't know how she'll feel about this. Other than those two things, I don't really think there is anything else she can do.

Try Tampax pearl and get the smallest absorbency

there is no way yo go swimming withought tampons maybe she will just have to miss those lessons

Tampons are the obvious answer but what about those menstrual cup thingies. I have never used them, but I think they are dome shaped and you place them inside to catch everything. I would think if they keep your period in they would keep water out but I am not 100% sure. It is the only other thing I can think of!

xx

Stay out of the water. It's unhealthy and unacceptable to go swimming/diving during one's "cycle" if there is any possibility of bleeding into the water. Pools would have to be immediately shut done, shocked, and allowed to stand 24 hours until "sanitized." How thoughtless it would be for her to go in a pool only to cause everyone else to suffer. Stay out of the water.

I'm sorry, she must use tampons. There is not other way besides a menstrual cup. A little tip for tampon-o-phobics: use slim (junior), low absorbency, rounded tip tampons with a plastic applicator. I say you're welcome!

most girls actually don't normally bleed in the water.
i would suggest she test it first in the bath or something though.
but she would have to put a pad back on RIGHT AWAY once she got out or else she might run into an embarrassing situation.

Try the slimline tampons, and get the lowest absorbency, they're easier to insert. She should be putting them all the way up, so that she can't feel them (most girls who don't like them, it's because they don't put them in properly).

If it's not a heavy day, she'd probably be fine in the pool without anything. Water pressure from the pool will actually tend to stop any bleeding while you're swimming.

As to "closing the pool for blood contamination"... that's a myth. There are no known diseases that can be transferred in a pool from blood, it is highly unlikely that anyone will stop her from swimming. Probably shouldn't wear a white swimsuit though.

when she does finally realize to use tampons in the pool, tell her to cut some of the string off or it will stick out of the bathing suit
