For anyone with p.c.o.s., what dosage of metformin do you take?!

Question: I am only on 500mg per day, and it is not helping. I read that maybe it should be more. I was wondering what the norm was.

I feel like your dosage is up to your doctor to decide, but you should definitely let he/she know if you feel that metformin isn't helping your symptoms. If you've just started, your doctor may be trying to ease you into the medicine, since it has been shown to cause nausea and other intestinal upsets.

In response to your question, though, I take 2000mg of metformin daily (two 500mg tablets in the morning, and two at night.)
